The Bolsa Palace is one of the most beautiful buildings in Porto, and one of the richest in Portugal. Built to be the headquarters of the Porto’s Chamber of Commerce, it once held the stock market – bolsa, in portuguese. Started in 1842, the construction took 38 years, which resulted in a big diversity of architecture elements, sculptures and paintings that can be admired in the noble rooms of the palace. The ex-libris of the tour is the Arabian Room, a ballroom with walls and ceiling entirely carved in plaster and gold, inspired by the Muslim culture.
