Originally called Estação Central do Porto, the São Bento railway station dates back to 1893. It is famous mainly for the internal tile panels, which represent historical scenes from the north of Portugal. The tiles were placed between 1905 and 1906 by the artist Jorge Colaço, known for his works in tiles.
