Behind a gothic 14th century’s façade, the S. Francisco church hides an impressive patrimony: baroque decoration dating from the late 17th and mid-18th centuries, all wood-carved and covered in gold leaf. It is said that 400kg of gold were used for this purpose. In 1833, a fire affected a part of the convent, which was demolished. The S. Francisco church was declared a monument of world heritage by UNESCO.
